Thinking laboratory with Heidi Backström

On the last day of the festival, Heidi Backström will facilitate a thinking laboratory focused on cultural collaboration and ways of relying on each other in a time of arts funding cuts across Europe. The laboratory aims to initiate active discussions among cultural professionals, creating a rich space for sharing experiences, life hacks, and envisioning multiple ways to navigate the cultural ecosystem.

The event will be guided by questions such as:

  • “How is knowledge about funding distributed?”
  • “In what ways can we sustain long-term creative dialogues with each other despite limited financial means?”
  • “What kinds of institutional collaborations can we imagine?”
  • “How do the working methods of institutions and freelancers intertwine?”
  • “What possibilities do curators have in negotiating between rigid funding structures and the practices of freelance artists?”
  • And many more…

Heidi Backström is a writer, editor, and producer working in the fields of performing arts. Heidi believes in radical sharing – sharing of thoughts, dreams, needs, boundaries, frustrations, skills, and experiences. Heidi used to work as a curator at Tehdas Teatteri’s Jokistudio, and it might be that she was  the first person to dream of getting Baltic Take Over to Turku.

The event is free to attend, but please register here
