Kodin huoneista makuuhuone on se, jonka ovi suljetaan vieraiden saapuessa. Makuuhuoneessa laskeudutaan lepoon, luetaan iltasatu, rakastellaan, astutaan unen valtakuntaan ja sieltä pois.
Kotiteatterin esityssarjassa koti muuttuu huone kerrallaan näyttämöksi. Olohuoneessa (ensi-ilta Satakunnassa 2018) ja Pihalla (ensi-ilta Pohjois-Karjalassa 2021) saavat jatkoa kesällä 2026, kun varsinaissuomalaiset yleisöt kutsutaan Makuuhuoneen intiimiin tilaan, jossa unesta tulee yhteistä ja sängystä näyttämö.

When visitors enter a home, the door of the bedroom is the one that is closed. The bedroom invites us to lay to rest, read the bedtime story, make love, step into the realm of dreams and back.
One by one the rooms of the domestic space change into stages in the series of works by Kotiteatteri. After In the Living Room (premiered in Satakunta in 2018) and Spaced Out (premiered in Northern Karelia in 2021), audiences are invited to the intimate space of the bedroom, where dreams can be collective and the bed becomes a stage.
The performances take place in private homes—you can offer your own home as a performance venue! The public call for homes that want to join the tour in South-West Finland will open in February 2026 -> www.kotiteatteri.org.
The making and touring of Makuuhuoneessa is supported by the Kone Foundation and the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (The Arts Council of Varsinais-Suomi). The work is part of Aku Meriläinen’s artistic doctoral research on porno-art, conducted at Aalto University.
